I am asked this question almost every time I talk about what I do for a living, and, frankly, it is not that easy to define. So, I created a video documentary series called "Design in Motion".
The idea of this trailer was to give an explanation that makes it easier to understand just what makes Motion Design such a complex and interesting domain. The Art Direction combines various techniques such as 3D, textures, animated typography, 2D animation,... to create a video that speaks to everyone, regardless of their motion design background.
However, I also wanted this video, and the whole series, to help motion designers discover new ways of approaching Motion Design by representing the whole community of motion designers with interviews of established motion designers explaining their artistic background and techniques.
